Royal Library

This map of the German city of Emmerich was published in 1649 in the city book by Joan Blaeu (1598-1673). In this atlas Blaeu brought together more than 200 maps of Dutch cities and several fortresses. This card is found in the first part of the book devoted cities mainly in the Northern Netherlands.

1764, Etching of the Mohawk Sychnecta dressed in traditional costume battle. He wears the distinctive headdress, nose and earrings by the Mohawks. In his left hand he carries a bow and arrow in his right hand a pipe tomahawk. Besides his feet is a pair of snowshoes pictured.This Indian would have been in the Blauw Jan. Seen The etching is included in the collection of the Municipal Dreesmann Amsterdam under no dr.pr.1463, by Smit, A.
