On this day my ass. How dare the BBC lie with this fake packaged history article by saying that "900 dead" was "news" on November 18, 1978. On "that" day, and the next, nothing was known of the death toll, and when on Monday, the 20th of November, the mass suicides were first reported, the total fatalities were said to be half that figure. It was not until Friday, the 24th when a climbing total reached 780, and over the weekend still before it finally began to top out.
Some news organization that abrogates its responsibility for reporting the process by which we know what it is we think and say we know. Such a tacky historical rewrite job only draws attention to the truly inconvenient facts they seek to amend. Bad BBC! Very bad indeed!
